Dr. Paula Gardner
Paula Gardner, PI is a communication scholar and multimedia practitioner. Her work considers the details of data that can --and can't be-captured by consumer grade devices, the meaningfulness of the data, and how various types of aesthetics can be used to translate data in meaningful ways to users.
This project led by Gardner joins expertise in data visualization, critical visualization framing and rendering in 2D and 3D; scientific data collection and analysis, and finally partners at hospitals and clinics working with patients with Chronic Pain, ADD, Mood disorders and Geriatric Health. These partners have large data sets collected from children with Cognitive and neurological disorders (Autism, ADHD, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, etc.) that they require to be translated into clear and effective information visualizations that consumers can use.
